About CPKN Computers

CPKN Computers was founded by Chris Perkovic in 2013 after feeling that too often, IT support treated customers as just another number.

From an early age, Chris was the person family, friends and neighbours would turn to when they needed help with technology. What he enjoyed most wasn’t simply fixing the problem, but the connection that came with helping someone through it and sharing that sense of relief and triumph when everything was working again.

As Chris moved through his professional ICT career, he found that same personal connection wasn’t always present. He believed IT support could be different, and that people deserved more than simply having a problem fixed and moving on to the next issue.

That belief led to the creation of CPKN Computers: providing technology support with a personal approach, building genuine relationships with clients, and aiming to make every visit feel less like dealing with an IT company and more like having someone you know and trust come over to help.

Since those early beginnings, CPKN Computers has continued to grow while holding onto the same personal approach it was founded on.

Now, CPKN Computers is taking the next step in its story, expanding into the Parkes and Forbes region to provide local communities with the same friendly, personal and dependable technology support that has been at the heart of the business since 2013.

Chris Perkovic

Owner & Lead Technical Engineer

Growing up, I was always fascinated by how things worked, especially electronics. Being from a lower-income family, we tried our best to make do, but it did give opportunity to see if something broken could be fixed.

When our family got our first computer, it was a fantastic moment in my life that led me down a path of interest in Information Technology. I also loved helping people as best I could, so while my primary passion was originally to join the Police Force, my love of technology continued to grow with me.

In my young adulthood, I found myself working across the technology and retail industries, as well as working as a technician for a Production Management business that helped construct and pull down major events, including concerts and public events. This also tied in nicely with another passion of mine: music.

After studying through CIT and working as an ICT Support Technician, I felt something was missing. I wanted to be someone a client could trust, enjoy chatting with, and feel comfortable calling when they needed help.

A car accident held me up, but while I recovered, that passion for helping people remained. Eventually, I took the risk of opening my own business so I could provide the kind of IT support I wanted my clients to receive.

In 2013, CPKN Computers was launched.

Since then, I've had the opportunity to meet incredible people and support some amazing businesses. I've also had the honour of working as a Technical Engineer in Canberra for larger ICT support businesses, which has given me the opportunity to work in embassies, data centres, and larger organisations across industries including food and retail.

What I love about working in IT is that you never stop learning. There is so much to the industry that trying to be a jack of all trades becomes part of the fun. I enjoy problem-solving, whether it's something I've dealt with countless times before or a completely new and evolving issue I've never encountered.

When I'm not working, I love listening to music LOUD!, watching movies, playing video games with my friends, and watching sport, particularly English football. And yes, Arsenal is my favourite team! GO GUNNERS!

I’ve been interested in technology for as long as I can remember. It really started when I got my first console, an original Xbox, when I was around six years old. From there, curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to know how everything worked, not just how to use it.

Growing up, that curiosity quickly turned into pulling apart the family computer and just about any small piece of technology I could get my hands on. Thankfully, most of it went back together again. Over time I became the person family and friends would come to whenever something stopped working, wouldn’t connect, or simply decided it had had enough.

That interest eventually became a career. I have spent around three years working in IT as a qualified technician, building experience across hardware and software repairs, printers, phone systems, troubleshooting and general technical support. I also completed my certificate IV in ICT giving me the formal training to go alongside the hands-on experience I’d already gained from years of working with computers and technology.

One of the things I’ve always enjoyed most about IT is helping people actually understand their technology. Not everyone lives and breathes computers, and I don’t believe you should need a dictionary of IT jargon just to get something fixed. I like taking the time to listen, work out what’s going on and explain things in a way that actually makes sense.

Having lived in Parkes pretty much my whole life, being able to help people in the local community is something I really value. There’s something much nicer about being able to deal with a real person you can trust when technology inevitably decides to misbehave.

Technology is constantly changing, which is probably one of the reasons I’ve stayed interested in it for so long. There’s always something new to learn, a strange problem to solve, or a computer doing something it absolutely should not be doing.

When I’m not working with technology, there’s a fairly good chance I’m still sitting in front of a computer anyway, just with considerably less productivity involved. Gaming has always been one of my biggest hobbies, and it’s where a lot of my interest in computers began in the first place.
