No Cortana in Australia Windows 10 Launch

That’s right! No Cortana in Australia Windows 10 Launch from July 29th with Cortana still standing at Alpha.

After awaiting confirmation as we get closer to launch has now been made through the Windows 10 Specs page, stating Cortana:

Cortana is only currently available on Windows 10 for the United States, United Kingdom, China, France, Italy, Germany and Spain.

Doing a Twitter search of “No Cortana in Australia” immediately gets tweets of annoyance or anger.

Even we made an outcry to Microsoft:

Windows Mobile 10 has no release yet and as Windows 8.1 has Cortana already in Alpha. We haven’t seen any progress with Cortana in Australia since its release.

Cortana was announced back in Build 2014 through the Windows Phone 8.1 update. Australia didn’t get the “Alpha” version of Cortana until August 2014.

Cortana is a Personal Assistant to rival Siri and Google Now.

The name “Cortana” came from the Halo video game series. Cortana’s features include being able to set reminders, recognize natural voice without the user having to input a predefined series of commands and answer questions using information from Bing, like current weather and traffic conditions, sports scores, and biographies, just to name a few.

Cortana also uses a special feature called a “Notebook”, where it will automatically gather information and interests of the user based on usage and allow the user to input additional personal information, such as quiet hours and close friends who are allowed to get through to the user during these quiet hours. Users can also delete information from the “Notebook” if they deem it undesirable for Cortana to know.

As time went on, Cortana has been smashing the competition. She is doing so well, Microsoft have been working on getting Cortana as an App onto Apple & Google devices.

As many other countries have been moving to Beta, Australia has been left behind it would seem, with the final stab to the heart with no Cortana support for Windows 10 at launch.

The second chance moment for Cortana in Australia would be when Microsoft release Windows Mobile 10, rumoured to be around September/October 2015. But as her progress has seemed to be nil, we are not holding our breath.

We want to hear from you guys, the readers!

Should Microsoft get something to work for Cortana at release of Windows 10 for Australia?
